Idées?
Mon premier réflexe lorsque j'ai entendu parler du projet intégrateur à Sainte-Anne était de vouloir partir en voyage. Évidemment, faire un projet de telle envergure demande beaucoup de questions de logistique au niveau financier, linguistique et sécurité. Par contre, partir en voyage est encore dans mes options. J'aimerais faire un projet qui serait capable de mélanger psychologie, sociologie et différentes cultures pour s'intéresser aux barrières culturelles dans le monde de la psychologie. Nous savons que certaines cultures font les choses différemment et cela peut venir jouer un grand rôle lors du diagnostic d'un client d'une autre ethnicité que la nôtre. Pour ce faire, je pourrais trouver une question qui se base sur ses sujets ou trouver une clinique à l'extérieur de Montréal où je pourrais faire un stage.
Si par malheur, le fait de voyager n'est pas possible dû aux raisons énumérées plus haut, je me concentrerai à faire un stage à Montréal dans le domaine de la psychologie. Grâce à mes contacts, je connais certaines personnes qui travaillent présentement dans ce domaine, je pourrais donc leur demander si eux ou des collègues seraient intéressés à ce que je puisse les suivre dans leur quotidien. Cependant, il faut prendre en considération que ce milieu est délicat et qu'un seul mot inadéquat peut chambouler un client. C'est pourquoi il faudrait évaluer si une étudiante au Cégep pourrait faire ce genre de participation.
Bref, j'aimerais énormément trouver une question de recherche qui me permettrait de voyager tout en observant des comportements psychologiques et socioculturels hors du pays ou même trouver une opportunité d'apprendre concrètement le quotidien d'un professionnel dans ce milieu.

Identité sociale dans les sociétés multiculturelles : comment les individus construisent leur identité sociale dans des contextes de diversité culturelle et les facteurs qui favorisent l'intégration sociale ou l'exclusion. Donc observez les restrictions d'affichage d'identité selon différentes cultures.

Comparez les attitudes et les perceptions à l'égard de la santé mentale dans différentes cultures et explorez les stratégies efficaces pour réduire la stigmatisation et promouvoir l'inclusion. Est-ce que certaines cultures négligent encore l'importance de la santé mentale.

Analyse des motivations et des comportements des touristes internationaux, en examinant comment leurs expériences de voyage peuvent influencer le bien-être psychologique et social des voyageurs.

Quels types de soutien ou d'interventions sont les plus recherchés par les jeunes en détresse psychologique et comment intervenir chez les jeunes avec des tuteurs contre les moyens d'intervention psychologique?

Comment les jeunes préfèrent-ils recevoir de l'aide en matière de santé mentale (ateliers, soutien en ligne, thérapie individuelle, etc.)

I have decided to research, using methods such as interviewing, observing, and reading, how a judge makes a decision regarding the consequences of someone who is mentally ill but committed a certain crime. Ideally, I would love to have the opportunity to observe a psychiatrist specializing in legal cases at the Douglas Institute with the doctor we met during the interdisciplinary week. I would also love to interview Stephane Guay, a psychologist who works on the study of the care of victims of serious acts of violence. He might be able to get me some information to complete the main issue of my research and maybe introduce me to coworkers. I will also conduct research to see what has been done before and what are the actual criteria to make such decision. This might be a reach, but if it is possible for me to do, I would be very intrigued to listen to a trial case in real life. This might be harder because the dates need to line up with my project and I would need to find a public case. Still, I think it could give me an interesting point of view on the background of this study.

I developed an interest in psychology when I was around 15 years old and with the years, I feel like my passion for this subject keeps evolving to the point where I want to spend the rest of my life helping others through therapy and other psychological approaches. Although psychology is the thing that I am passionate about, I am very aware of the many qualifications to become a certified psychologist. Since I know that the doctorate after the BAC is very hard to get into, I’ve been thinking about other possible options I could apply into after. Law and criminology are some subjects that could be a potential option, but I don’t know a lot about which is why I thought this project would be perfect to dip my toe in new waters. Connecting with professionals to interview them will also be a giant bonus other than the product itself since it will help me build connections in the field. Now, enough about myself. This research could, whatever the results are, clear up confusion people who are interested in the subjects might have. This research will not only benefit me, but also a whole population of confused Quebecers who can’t realty find the answer by themselves. Being realistic, this subject is delicate and very precise so I am not sure if an impact will occur after this research, but I will be proud (hopefully) and this will help me launch myself into this new yet interesting world.

I have decided to study the fine line/ limit regarding mental health issues and sickness while in court for committing a crime. The question will study how we can know for sure if someone was not in the right mental state during a crime. I will see, from the point of view of the whole court room (lawyers, judges, professionals, patients), how situations regarding crimes and mental health are dealt like in court. What can determine what is okay and what is not if the patient was not aware of the crime? How is the sentence determined, is it prison or a mental institute like Douglas? Who deals with cases like this? What are some famous cases? Those are all questions I ask myself right now and that I will try to find an answer to throughout this journey. I feel like this subject is interesting since those situations can be considered taboo and this project might help demystify those situations. Every human suffering from mental health issues is a human and should be treated with the same respect as everyone else.
