What's next?
Ah the big question! Fanny, what do you want to do after cégep? This question is so important and what most people seem to care about when you haven't seen them in a while. Luckily for me, I have been knowing what I want to pursue as a career for a while now. Ever since my third year of high school, I've known that I wanted to be a psychologist. To achieve this dream of mine, I need to work really hard during my BAC to be able to get accepted in the doctorate program. My goal is to be a clinical psychologist so these diplomas are essential even if they are really limited in term of places available each year.
I applied at UdeM in psychology and in cognitive neuroscience. My first choice would be psychology since I have the opportunity to have a larger variety of classes than in cognitive neuroscience.
I applied at McGill in the faculty of arts in order to major in psychology. As of right now, I am not sure what my minor would be, maybe criminology or law but this might change.
Both schools are interesting right now, each with many pros and some cons. I am leaning with UdeM, but again, this decision might change
It is official! I accepted the offer from... UdeM!! I will be studying psychology there for the next 3 years with the hope of applying for the doctorate. This is an important challenge and I will need to work extremely hard if I want to make this happen, but as of right now, I am ready for this new chapter. Even though I want to be optimistic, I am also thinking about what I could do if I do not get a place in the doctorate to get into the Ordre des Psychologues du Québec. Maybe I could do a masters, a certificate or just another "bac" as it would be 3 years vs 5 (doctorate). Law has always be a subject that interests me so maybe I could combine psychology and law to complete my studies or start a new project.
